EVENTS: MDE Upcoming Performance Dates!
April 2nd, 2020. "Choreography Showcase - Emotion Made Visible," 7:30pm, Paramount Center for the Arts. Experience new works by Minnesota Dance Ensemble (MDE) choreographers and dancers. Under the direction of MDE’s Artistic Director, Samantha Collen the choreographers study elements of choreography, space, movement quality, and emotion. Each choreographer is asked to select an emotion, thought, or feeling and asked to display it visibly through movement.

Enjoy this ballet/opera collaboration by Minnesota Dance Ensemble, Central Minnesota Ballet Academy LLC, and Great River Choral. This Russian folk tale is told through ballet, character dance, and live music. Music includes songs from Rimsky Korsakov, Tchaikovsky, and Minkus. Ballet directed by Samantha Collen, with guest principal dancers from around the country and local corps de ballet. Based on the Russian folk tale “Снегурочка”. Snegurochka, the daughter of Father Frost and Mother Spring is sent to live with humans to care for an elderly couple who have no children. Snegurochka grows to like a young man, but her heart is unable to love. Mother Spring takes pity and gives Snegurochka this ability, but as soon as she falls in love, her heart warms and she melts. Come celebrate the transition from Winter to Spring as we celebrate living life to the fullest. October 31st, 2019. "Love from Beyond the Grave," 7:30pm , Paramount Center for the Arts. “Love from Beyond the Grave” is a moving story about how love conquers all challenges by remaining strong even after death. Minnesota Dance Ensemble collaborates with local actors and dancers to create a fun filled “Thriller” from beyond the grave. A cast of dancing crows, mummies, gravediggers, zombies, and a zombie bride and groom take the audience through a story with unexpected twists. New choreography by Samantha Collen. The variety of dance styles, ranging from modern, tap, ballet, musical theatre, and contemporary, performed to popular music, with a few familiar themes, create something everyone will enjoy. Minnesota Dance Ensemble presents: A Real Boy Friday, April 26th, 2019 @7:30pm Paramount Center for the Arts Join Minnesota Dance Ensemble as they share an adaptation of Carlo Collodi‘s beloved tales from The Adventures of Pinocchio series. The April 26th performance will take the much-loved marionette character through familiar anecdotes, underscoring themes of true and false friendship. For all that sincerely embrace their authentic selves, Minnesota Dance Ensemble offers a heartfelt portrayal of the idea that genuine love transforms.
